POLITICS..!

Ciroma, 14 Northern Forum Leaders on Jonathan

The report about Mallam Adamu Ciroma, and the Northern Political Leaders Forum, published on October 6, 2010,  was a violent wind, enough to break Nigeria apart.
With his 14 disgruntled fellows of  Northern extraction, Adamu Ciroma called upon President Goodluck Jonathan to resign within one week, emphatic that, “if he fails to do so before the end of the week, we call on the National Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings against him immediately.”

What is the basis for apprehension in Northern Nigeria? Ciroma, and his ilk have refused to exercise a little patience, while the security agencies are busy trying to unearth the details of the Abuja bomb blasts. The presidency is already under an obligation to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter, in order to fish out the culprits, and bring them to justice.
Unfortunately, the looming fear of insecurity in Nigeria even began when Dr. Goodluck Jonathan himself, was yet a college junior. Why should the worst come to the worst during his tenure? In Bauchi State of Nigeria, returnee members of - Boko Haram once again, felt no qualms about setting school buildings and  the prison stores on fire seven days after the celebration of the 50th Independence Anniversary and the bomb blasts. The incident ocurred barely one month  after the Bauchi jail break by the same members of Boko Haram; which led to the escape 157 members. Ciroma and his Northern political leaders should not forget to send another ultimatum to Governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State to tender his resignation with immediate effect.
When the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks occurred in the U.S.A, over 4,000 innocent people from different countries of the world died in vain. United States citizens neither called for the resignation, nor the impeachment of President George Bush.
Can we remember that year? Of course, ever since that year in Nigeria, Mama has never fully recovered from the shock. Every day of her life, every week, and every month, she has never tired of asking over and over again: “Who killed my Dele Giwa?” Dele Giwa, a renown journalist, was killed through a dispatched letter bomb. Giwa’s unexpected death indeed had dislodged our psychology. A slur had since been cast on Nigeria’s reputation. Oh! over him, the entire world mourned, and mourned!
The Abuja bomb blast on October , 2010 has re-opened an old wound. Those criminals who were behind the bomb blasts ought to come forward and surrender without waiting to be fished out. They ought to apologise to Nigerians and be ready to face the consequence! Nigeria’s image was first tarnished by the letter bomb. At last, the Abuja bomb blasts became the worst act of terrorism that had broken Nigeria’s back. Why were the bombs planted, and by whom? Where do we begin to re-brand Nigeria? Are such incorrigible Nigerians still re-brandable?
It is likely that Adamu Ciroma, with his 14 Northern political leaders had an already mapped-out a sinister plot against Jonathan’s administration. It follows therefore, that the Abuja bomb blasts, and their impeachment threat, were pre-arranged, as a prelude to their mapped-out sinister plot to wrest power from President Jonathan at all costs!
Mallam Adamu Ciroma must stop laying a false claim to being a respectable personality anymore in the North, even in the twilight of his exit. After all, no evidence is there to prove that he had ever made any tangible contribution towards improving upon the living standard of the Talakawas in his geo-political zone. Yet, he held sway in various positions of authority for over three decades!
Adamu Ciroma feels so threatened, scared and suspicious of Jonathan’s presidency, that if Jonathan continues beyond year 2011, he can only take Nigeria back to the dark days of President Obasanjo’s third term. Ironically, Mallam Ciroma, was almost the longest-serving Federal Minister during OBJ’s democratic dispensation. Whereas, even President OBJ knew that there were younger Northerners, who were brighter, brilliant, more relevant with requisite talents, morals, and intellect to fill such ministerial position.
His ethnocentric move is aimed at making Nigeria ungovernable for President Goodluck Jonathan. This move must be discountenanced forthwith!
This is the right time for the National Assembly to rise as one against these selfish and sluggish men of yesteryear, against these inglorious men, who have suddenly woken and raised their ugly heads to start fanning the embers of disunity in Nigeria.
They are uneventful men, basking in their afterglow years! Their uncharitable remarks, all like the mumbling of a fever dream!
The time to stop them is now!
